Late Night Thoughts: Why My Brain Won’t Sleep
Thoughts That Wait For Bedtime

Hi,
It always happens when the room is quiet and the lights are out. My body is ready for sleep, but my mind decides it’s time to think about everything — from what I said earlier today to what I’ll wear next week. It’s like my brain saves the most random thoughts just for bedtime.
There’s something about the night that makes thoughts feel louder. Little worries suddenly seem huge, and memories I haven’t thought about in years show up out of nowhere. The funny part is, once morning comes, most of those worries don’t even feel that big anymore.
Even though it’s frustrating, I think these late-night thoughts mean our minds are just trying to catch up. During the day we’re so busy and distracted, but at night it’s finally quiet enough to hear ourselves. Sometimes that’s overwhelming, but sometimes it’s also comforting.
If your brain ever keeps you awake like this, just know you’re not the only one. Somewhere out there, another girl is lying in bed too, overthinking what snack she should’ve eaten or replaying a conversation word for word. Eventually, the thoughts fade, and sleep always finds its way in.
